In addition to the pulpit, the font and the table up front reflect the unity of Word and sacrament; where the church celebrates the two special events; baptism and the Lord’s Supper, commanded and blessed by Jesus Christ as holy signs and seals of the covenant of grace. Together the congregation gathers around the preached Word and shares in the blessings of these visible symbols of our cleansing and forgiveness through Christ.

The two pictures Christ gave to his followers to aid our understanding of the Gospel are what we call sacraments, or pledges given in addition to the preaching of the Gospel. The simplicity of the sanctuary allows for the prominence of the Word and Sacrament.
